Your greatness and accomplishments are directly proportional to how much effort and energy you are willing to invest in the extra mile. Along your path will be many obstacles, and you will find your road cluttered with many people and obstructions. This comes with the territory, and most people never get off of this road. The thing about this particular road is that it will never lead to anything of true significance or impact. You must have a mindset that is about not allowing the daily challenges or typical roadblocks stop you from getting to your true destination. You see although it seems like the other folks and impediments are there for you for the entire journey; I submit to you that they are not. They are only there to test your sincerity to your true purpose. Once you are able to navigate them, you’ll end up at a place where you will have a choice to make. The first choice will be, will you maintain the status quo, or will you decide to keep pressing and go the extra mile. Your breakthrough and destiny are in the extra mile. Also, you will find that the traffic you encountered on your path along the way will be greatly diminished and obstacles almost eliminated. This is because most people will never go the extra mile to achieve their greatness. You will actually pick up pace as you gain confidence along your way. The world needs YOU to go the extra mile so it can benefit from what lives within you. It is my hope that we cross paths along the extra mile, we can encourage each other along the way as we move on to our true destinies.

Often in life we allow what we see on the outside to determine how we look at life. We let the external things that our senses take in to guide our mindset and direct our activities. If that is the case, then we are not in control of what is going on in our lives. People who are led by the external elements around them are enslaved to a mindset that gives up the right to determine how you should look at things. On the other side of that coin is a mindset that says, no matter what comes your way, that you have the ability to make it better. Even in the worst storms, the sun is still shining somewhere. The clouds and winds blowing are just things to take your focus off of your destination. Just like the sun never stops shining, regardless of what you are seeing; you have hope and opportunity to move towards your destiny despite what may be swirling around. Storms are there to determine your resolve and focus. So never forget, no matter what it looks like outside, that the sun is shining. Keep pressing, keep moving, and never lose faith in the merits of your redemptive pursuits. It won’t be easy, but it is doable. You are closer to your accomplishments than you think, so stay the course.

You cannot live any considerable amount of time without having challenges knock at your door. These issues will put your faith, perseverance, and patience to their limits. I have been knocked to my knees on many occasions and left with the same questions. Will I allow this circumstance to define me? Or do I have the fortitude to ride out this current storm? It’s not a matter of if the turbulence of life will come, it’s more of a matter of when it will rear it head. If handled correctly, the test that you are enduring will turn into a testimony. You see within each test are lessons as well as strengthening elements that will leave you better than you were when the storm arrived. It may not feel like that while you are going through ,and even after you initially come out of it. But the further you get away from the storm, the more clarity you will find regarding what you have endured and overcome. The one-time test of your constitution now has become a testimony to be shared and reflected on by you and others. This seemingly dark situation is now a learning tool to bring light to a dim circumstance for others. So batten down the hatches, dig in, and listen to that small and still voice that will guide you from and through your test, to a positive and influential testimony!

I was sitting here pondering about other ways of maximizing each day, and a thought occurred to me that I’d like you to consider. Have you ever thought about how we can betray the day that has been given to us. Betrayal is defined as unfaithful in guarding, maintaining, or fulfilling a trust. Think about it, we’ve each been given a new day that should be filled with promise, purpose, and potential. Yet so often we spend so much time reflecting back, or gazing to an uncertain or even nonexistent future. You see tomorrow is not promised. Yet when we spend so much time in other places mentally or emotionally, we betray the thing that is real and relevant in our lives, and that’s today. It is important that we guard the gift given each day, while maintaining and enhancing the talents that live with each of us to be a positive impact on those we encounter. This is how we never betray the day again. This is how we fulfill the trust of being a good steward or what has been entrusted to us. A steward is someone that honors and has oversight over things. Our gifts, talents, resources, and time are things that we must be great stewards of. If this is honored and respected then we can never have regret or have to focus on betraying another day in our lives. I never looked at it like betrayal, but now I do and hope these words can help you take full advantage of what lies before you each day, and make it matter because you truly matter.

What people see on the outside is in many cases a glimpse of who we really are. Often it is a representation of who we want people to see, and sometimes it is something that may not even be fully understood by you. What I’m saying is that who we are is, or is not, developed from the inside out. Yet so many of us focus on the external so much that we typically ignore the person that lives and breathes on the inside of us. There is much more depth, meaning, and treasure that resides within you. God has given each of us special and profound gifts that are to be developed, nurtured, and protected. This is done by taking the time to acknowledge that you are gifted, because you cannot address what you have not acknowledged. Once acknowledged you then have a choice to feed your gift of allow it to starve through neglect. I am going to assume you are going to nurture your gift, and that is done by exposing your gift to people who will educated you on the finer points of refining the gold that lives within. Seeking knowledge and wisdom with help you cultivate the gift fully. There are people and resources around you that are willing to invest in you by being a teacher and mentor. Actively seek them out because this will be a vital part in unpacking your gift. Now that you are surrounding yourself with the right people you can unpack your gift. At the right intervals you will begin to display your gifts to the world. You do this by looking for opportunities to display your gift to those around you. This will provide you with feedback and perspective. Being able to get this input will help you to further grow your gift and prepare it for the ultimate unpacking and unveiling to the world. So take the time to acknowledge and nurture your gift, and unpack it one day at time for the benefit of others and you will find true fulfillment when you do.
